One day four-year-old Jack came running into the house, calling, "Mama, Mama, there's a lion on the porch!" The mother had been having trouble with Jack's handling of the truth. So she said, "Jack, you know there is no lion on the porch. Come and we'll see what is there."

When they looked out the screen door, there sat a large St. Bernard. "See, Jack, there is no lion on the porch; it's only a dog. Go now and tell God how sorry you are for telling another lie."

Jack ran off but returned quickly and his mother asked, "Did you tell God you were sorry?"

Jack replied, "Yes, and He said, 'That's all right, Jack, I thought it looked like a lion Myself."'
